The Process

You've seen homes where windows leak cold air, floors are uneven, kitchen's are too small, garage has no room for storage, the basement is damp and cool, and the floor plan has little or no flow.  You've reached a place in your life where you deserve to have a nice home, well-built and designed to last a lifetime.  Your home tells your family's story, and we make sure every detail of your home reflects you, how you live, and what's important to you.

Our motto here at Mike's Custom Homes is "Character Built Into Every Home", and we take the time to do it right.  It all starts with good communication.  We will build your home to fit your "today" lifestyle with an eye on the future.  If you already have a plan we can refine it and make it better, if you don't have a plan we can design a new home for you.  With the design of any custom home we will factor in the characteristics of the land, such as views, sunlight, slope, and trees.  The interior design must have a good flow and also connect nicely to outdoor living.  A good home design will incorporate a balance of beauty and function.

When the design of your home is completed, we will prepare an itemized estimate with costs and descriptions so you know the type of quality that will be built into your home.  During construction, Mike's team of professionals will guide you through the process of picjking out windows, siding, flooring, cabinets, and more.

Getting Started

Working hand in hand with our team of professionals, you’ll discover how the process of creating a home that’s truly custom can be rewarding and easier than you think. We start by talking.

  1. Do you have your land? Your custom home should take advantage of the best views, topography, while considering sunlight and air flow.

  2. Do you have your plans? Do they have good flow for how you live and envision your future?  Is the kitchen large enough, How about the garage size?  Do you need any specialty rooms?

  3. What’s on your Top 10 List of things you want in your home? Do you need a lot of storage? Want a gourmet kitchen or home office? How about a fireplace that makes a big statement?

  4. Pricing. Do you have an investment range that you would like to stay within? The size of the home along with product selections and finish detail can be tailored to help keep your home in the price range that works for you.

  5. Construction Schedule. Once we’ve completed your home design and pricing, we can outline a construction schedule that is reasonable for a high quality, well-built home.
